China-Pakistan Joint Working Group on Agriculture holds second meeting

The MARA and the Ministry of National Food Security and Research (MNFSR) of Pakistan jointly held the second meeting of China-Pakistan Joint Working Group (JWG) on Agriculture in video format on April 24, 2020. The two sides exchanged views on furthering bilateral agricultural cooperation, identified cooperation priorities for the next step and signed the minutes of the meeting. 

 

The meeting fully affirmed China's emergency assistance in desert locust control in Pakistan, and discussed China-Pakistan cooperation mechanism for plant diseases and pests control. The two sides also discussed the draft action plan for China-Pakistan agricultural cooperation, agreed to strengthen cooperation in capacity building, technology innovation, aquaculture, the building of FMD-free zones and trade and investment, and jointly implement the MOU on strengthening cooperation in prevention and control of plant diseases and pests, and advance the building of the center for sustainable management of plant pests and diseases in Pakistan.

 

Representatives from China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Secretariat and Pakistani Affairs Bureau of the CPEC joined the video meeting.
